October 16th the SHS Ecology class taught by Mrs. Richner went on a “Grove to Home” field trip to Hammons Product Company where they toured the largest Black Walnut processing facility in Missouri and also Hammons Black Walnut Tree Farm: Sho-Neff Orchard where they learned about cultivars and seasonal cattle grazing in the orchard. The students learned about black walnut sustainability and stewardship in the industry along with sampling Black Walnut snacks and drinks. Thanks to the Cedar County Farm Bureau Promotion & Education Committee for providing transportation funding and drinks.
